Missions Committee

Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations." The Missions Committee's exciting task is to help each person at SBC have a part in reaching all nations by prayer, encouraging the missionaries, giving resources, or actually going to the mission field for a short term or career. They help the congregation stay "up close and personal" with the missionaries SBC supports by regularly communicating their needs and recommending appropriate action. The committee also communicates with the missionaries, letting them know that the people of the church are standing with them, whether they are on the field or home on furlough. Opportunities are provided to experience short-term mission trips.

Agapé, Go! is your chance to experience community service several times a year. Each jam-packed day includes fellowship, food, service, and prayer. Our mission for the day is to lift up the community and each other with "Love in Action."

This year, there were two workdays - one in May & also September.
Smaller projects can be done on a monthly basis.

Financial contributions and donations of tools or construction supplies are welcome.

Summer 2011
This summer, SBC will send a team to Fort Wilderness in Wisconsin July 31 - August 5.

Operation Christmas Child

Sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child seeks to demonstrate God’s love to children in impoverished countries by sending a shoe box filled with gift items. This is a great family project and can make an eternal difference in the life of a child.

Stitch in Time

This group meets twice a month (second & fourth Thursdays) to make blankets and other crafts, donating them to local ministries or community organizations. By using their love of needlework, they seek to show God’s love to those who are sick or hurting.

Bread of Life

Every month, this group prepares, cooks and delivers meals to the City Rescue Mission in Hammond. Volunteers are encouraged to help on the second Thursday and fourth Friday of each month.
